Media

This section presents examples of my multi-media projects

Video

I interviewed current European Tour golfer, Calum Hill as a video piece for a news website part of a University assignment. I shot the cutaways at St. Andrews Old Course during the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. I filmed the content on my personal smartphone, using my own microphone and tripod. I edited the video using iMovie using the interview footage and cutaways to create an interesting and absorbing news package.

I gained experience shooting and editing with professional software used by national broadcasters and videographers. I was project manager of a group university assignment tasked to make ‘A day in the life…’ video piece. Using Avid Media Composer and a Canon XF300 HD camcorder we created a 2-minute short film, ‘A day in life of a Greenkeeper’.

I have interviewed high profile figures on and off camera, here is a short extract of a filmed interview with SNP Depute Leader, Keith Brown.

Audio

Along with videography, I have worked in a radio newsroom studio using systems used by many news and radio organisations to create engaging audio pieces for various platforms. Throughout my studies and work I have used many audio programs from basic editing systems such as a Audacity to high-powered broadcast radio, Myriad News Capture.

A small project undertaken during my studies is a 5-minute news podcast feature, ‘ The Future of News on the BBC’. I set out to be creative and ambitious interviewing high profile BBC broadcasters and journalists. I interviewed BBC Scotland TV presenter, Martin Geissler and BBC Radio London Editor, David Robey alongside former editor of The Scotsman, John McLellan.

Photography

I have a lot of experience capturing photos in my personal and working life from content-creation, boosting social media engagement as well as illustrating photojournalism stories. The most recent photography of note in a professional capacity has been a photo published onto over 20,000 golf scorecards.

A photo I captured from the 18th green down the striped fairways for a promotional social media post, was well received by the customers and the club. When it came down to creating the feature photograph for the new Muckhart Golf Club Scorecard for 2020/21, I personally edited the image and it was selected by the club committee and published on the new scorecards.
